Donated sperm is presented to couples when there seems no possibility of retrieving sperms naturally or by a surgical method for a man. The donor sperm is opted to either inseminate the woman (IUI). The second reason can be to fertilize her eggs in an  IVF process. Both of them are counselled together about the process as well as implications that are involved in the overall treatment.
